  • Today, a captivating exploration of Beijing awaits. Your guide will meet you at the hotel to begin your tour of this ancient city. First stop: Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square. From there, you'll proceed to the magnificent Forbidden City, a culturally significant landmark that once housed Chinese royalty for centuries. The afternoon brings a visit to Jingshan Park for panoramic city views, followed by a relaxing exploration of the Summer Palace's exquisite gardens.

Internet access is generally good in hotels and tourist areas, but it's limited in more remote areas. Some fast-food chains, restaurants and cafes have free wi-fi available, but may require a Chinese phone number to receive the login code. The login prompts may also be in Chinese.

In recognition of good service, tipping guides and drivers during China escorted tours, as well as bellboys who take your luggage to your room has become gradually accepted as common practice in China as elsewhere in the world. But it is still unnecessary to tip for food service or taxis, etc.

It is advisable to exchange enough RMB in big cities like Beijing, Xian, Shanghai or Chengdu before heading to Lhasa. ATMs are also not widely available in the region, so you may wish to withdraw money or exchange money at the Bank of China if you run out of Chinese currency.
